ABOUT OUR
PROJECT
Our capstone project, developed in partnership with the Marilyn Magaram Center at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), reimagines how we celebrate graduation using augmented reality (AR). Through the Hoverlay app, users can unlock a series of interactive digital experiences placed directly into the real world. These immersive scenes are designed to promote emotional wellness, spark reflection, and create lasting memories for graduating students and their loved ones.
AN AUGMENTED EXPERIENCE
At its core, this project is about connection: connecting students to their past experiences, to each other, and to their future selves. Whether you’re viewing a confetti-filled digital gift basket, previewing the graduation ceremony setup, revisiting iconic CSUN landmarks, or receiving words of wisdom from alumni through floating sticky notes, each scene is designed to ground users in gratitude and pride.

Hoverlay allows digital content like 3D models, animations, and videos to appear in your physical space using your device’s camera; No headset needed. By embedding these moments into the real world, we turn ordinary surroundings into extraordinary reminders of student's achievement and growth.
